Sessions
Over the years I have been involved with a number of bands playing various instruments both live and in recording sessions some of which can be seen on YouTube or heard on SoundCloud.
From 1986-95, touring extensively with the Cumbrian band "Lemon Grass", I played pedal steel guitar , acoustic and electric and resophonic (Dobro) guitars.
During the 90s I was delighted to be approached to play steel guitar (live and in recording sessions) for Michael Chapman who has, since my early teens, been one of my guitar superheroes.
Also in the 90s, The Wurzels visited Cumbria to record some promotional songs for Eddie Stobart. As well as well as playing on the recording sessions with them, I co-composed "Rig Jig" with them and they covered one of my own songs "Forty & Bone Dry"!
In 1997 I was invited to perform a solo spot on the Dobro (resophonic) on a Welsh language TV show. Of course it is probably just as well it was an instrumental piece!
In the late 90s, I joined Phil Middleton and Nick Cripps in “The Nightriders” and with the same line-up formed the country rock outfit “New England”. While with them, I co-wrote a couple of numbers with Phil and "I Don't Wanna Be Lonely" was one of them. During this time I was also playing steel with the popular Cumbrian band "Tolo's Reunion".
More recently on the acoustic guitar, I joined Iona Boggie on stage to perform "At Seventeen" (amongst other songs) during her birthday celebration gig.
Modern technology has enabled me to offer online sessions from my home studio. This facility is quite remarkable because it means I can supply a track or tracks to anyone who has even a basic digital recording setup. The versatility of online sessions being that for instance, a songwriter client can email a track to me and I can record steel, Dobro or guitar parts and supply them (by email or similar) as solo tracks, which can then be mixed by the client to their taste.
An example of this is songwriter Martin Diamond from "Sunk", (the rockabilly/punk band
from Whitehaven - Cumbria) with a track from their “Living Angels” on YouTube.

On "Burning Bridges" I played the pedal steel guitar.
